“…Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” Revelation 5:5-6 BR>
When I was growing up I loved to roller skate. So did my best friend John. We both did. Loved to roller skate. But there was something in John that was different. He began to consider who was the better skater based on the number of times we fell down. Whoever fell the least was...the better skater. So in seeking to not fall, he limited where he would skate, and how far, how fast, ALL to keep from falling.
He considered himself the best skater among us. Became prideful of his NON-falling skating ability. Even to the point where he looked down on the kids that weren't as good a NON-faller as he was. Now he didn't do this outwardly. Outwardly he would warn the others that in order to not fall, they shouldn't skate so fast, or go on a particular street cause it was bumpy. When they WOULD fall, he would shake his head , and say "See you should have listened, then you wouldn't have fallen."
Over a short period of time he became prideful of his NON-falling ability. Yet he couldn't see that he had SO limited his true skating potential through the fear of falling, so that his skating ability wasn't so great at all. Soon he realized that the true way to keep from falling was to NOT skate at all.
Me, on the other I skated all over, fell down all the time, got right back up and kept going. Sure Mom and Dad cleaned up my, just about daily, scrapes. But I didn't care I was back out there the next day loving skating, the bumpy road, racing, all of it. I was not about to allow my fear of falling from stealing the joy I received from my love of skating.
Herein, lays the essential difference between Living for Jesus and Living for Not Sinning. Read Romans 5:20 – 6:4, 6:11, 6:14-19. Now go to Galatians…4:4-18, 5:1
Look, too many Christians live in the negative. Meaning the emphasis is on NOT sinning. The thrust of our lives should be ON Jesus and living FOR Him.
Thank you for Reading,
In Christ,
Dave
